After retiring, she and Clarence left Moscow and moved to Browns Bay on Lake Coeur d'Alene for 10 years, then settled in Lewiston in 1990. From 1981 to 2000, they "snowbirded" to Apache Junction, Ariz., every winter.

She was a member of the Catholic Church. She belonged to the Palouse Rolling Hills Good Sams, the Snowdrifters of Latah County, and served as a Cub Scout den mother.
