Barnett Gibb (Barney) McDuff of Fort Worth, a former longtime and well known resident of Crosbyton community was claimed by death at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in his Fort Worth residence. He had suffered a prolonged illness.

Mr. McDuff was 81.

Memorial services were at 4 p.m. Monday in the Church of Christ here. Officiating were Loyd Hall, minister; Rev. Donald Hancock, Baptist minister from Plainview; and Lt. Kent Ellison, U.S. Air Force chaplain.

Interment was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, with Adams Funeral Home directing arrangements.

Grandsons were pallbearers.

Mr. McDuff moved to Fort Worth eight months ago from Crosbyton.

Born March 24, 1898 in Hill County, Mr. McDuff was married Jan. 20, 1924 in Floydada to the former Rena Eugenia Elsby. Mrs. McDuff preceded her husband in death March 19, 1959.

McDuff was a retired Crosbyton Electrical Plant operator. Previously he farmed in the Big Four Community from 1924 until 1949 and farmed in the Fairview community prior to that time.

A member of the Western Hills Church of Christ in Fort Worth, he formerly held membership in the Church of Christ here.

He had served as a member of the Big Four school board.

Survivors include two sons, Buster McDff of Fort Worth and Dick McDuff of Lake Jackson; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Gene Bowers of Houston and Mrs. Sibyl Dene Smith of Lubbock; two brothers, John McDuff of Crosbyton and Joe McDuff of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
