Infant Daughter of Cliff M. and Katharine H. Averett

I also appreciate your creating this memorial for the AVERETT infant.

This child too was originally buried at Linwood Cemetery and the grave was moved to Parkhill Cemetery – see Memorial #103345825. The year of birth/death on that one is also incorrect, for the same reason as with the infant son – the cemetery survey listing from 1943 reported it as 06 SEP 1913.

I must point out, however, that only the year is wrong. According to the record, this child was stillborn on 06 SEP 1915 and buried 07 SEP 1915, so the dates on the grave marker at Parkhill show the burial date. Here is the record:

Mary Jane Galer's list of persons interred in the New Cemetery area of Linwood shows: stillborn infant daughter of Cliff M. AVERETT, female, was buried 07 SEP 1917 in Section A, Lot 3, by undertaker C[harlton] L[afayette] TORBETT, local death certificate #5148 – Sexton C. W. YOUNG, remarks: DISINTERRED to Parkhill Cemetery on 24 JAN 1955, Permit No. 9400.

The Sexton’s Section A, Lot 3, is the same as Section A, Lot 71 (“AVERETT” on step) in Dolores Autry’s “Historic Linwood Cemetery” book, edited by Lea L. DOWD et al., Volume 1, p. 49.
