Edna Bernice Pittman Bishop, 87, of Pascagoula passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Pascagoula. She was born on December 2, 1922 in Pascagoula to Joseph and Flora Pittman and was their only child. She was a graduate of Pascagoula High School and a very accomplished pianist. Mrs. Edna was a childhood and long time member of First Baptist Church in Pascagoula. In 1958, she became a member of First Baptist Church in Gautier where she was the nursery coordinator for 11 years. She was a member of Mississippi Gulf Coast Gem and Mineral Club and held offices in the club including President. She was a member of the Southeast Federation of Gem and Mineral Club; a member of American Legion Auxiliary; former member and past president of PTA at Lake Elementary, Pascagoula Jr. High, Pascagoula High School and the Pascagoula PTA council. Mrs. Edna was a member and past President of Lake Garden Club and Charter member of Pascagoula High School Beta Club.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Eley Bishop; parents; infant son, Eley Bishop, Jr; and young daughter, Carol Ann Bishop.

She is survived by her two sons and two daughters, Jimmy Bishop (Sheila), Harleston, MS; Jerry Bishop (Sandra), Escatawpa; Virginia Ann Baham (Clyde), Folsom, LA and Sarah Ellen Luke (R.B.), Cary, NC; seven grandchildren, Marty Bishop (Ann), Teddy Bishop, Josh Bishop (Miranda), Cara Bishop, Joseph Baham, Ethan Luke, and Eric Luke. Six great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Karley, and Beau Bishop, Eli Bishop, Kooper and Kanton Bishop.

Visitation will be Monday, May 17, 2010, 6:00-8:00pm, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, May 18, 2010, 10:00AM, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula with the Dr. Billy Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula. Memorials may be made in her memory to March of Dimes.
