When she was 19 and living in British Columbia, she married Arthur Sharp on Dec. 28, 1898. They had one son, Charles.
She and her family immigrated to Seattle WA, where her husband worked as a tailor. Upon his sudden death, with her son to raise, she ran a boarding house. She also listed her occupation as Christian Science practitioner.
In 1920, at about age 40, she accompanied her son on a steamer to South Manchuria, where he would be working for an American exporting company.
Nellie died at the age of 53 in Seattle WA.
