Cynthia Fouts was the daughter of Jacob Fouts and Mary Dougan. She married Jacob Ratts 24 Dec 1829 (Indiana Marriage Collection). Seven children were born to this union: Thomas L., David F., Malinda E., Mary E., Sarah J., Henry H., and Margaret Evalina.
Note from Charlestown, Indiana: "Mrs. Mary Work has returned from New Washington, where she attended the funeral of her sister, Mrs. Cynthia Ratts, who died Saturday Feb. 22. She was eighty years of age. Her death was caused from pneumonia."
