It should be noted that the Parcels name is sometimes spelled with two letters "l" on the end. The older family members spelled it with one "l" according to tombstones. It appears that some of the later descendants added another "l."

Edwin, Jr. was the son of Edwin Winship Parcels, Sr. (1822-1912) and Rebecca Ann (Rowland) Parcels (1833-1913), both of whom were born in Kentucky and died in Adair County, Missouri. Edwin, Jr. was one of 10 known children:

1) John Monson "Monte" Parcels 1850 – 1921
2) Mary Elizabeth Parcels 1853 – 1904
3) James Fredrick Parcels 1855 – 1878
4) Laura Ann Parcels 1858 – 1938
5) Edwin Winship Parcels, Jr. 1860 – 1942
6) Emma Catherine Parcels 1863 – 1959
7) George Rowland Parcels 1865 – 1938
8) Annie Belle Parcels 1868 – 1943
9) Effie Rebecca Parcels 1873 – 1949
10) Maude C. Parcels 1883 –

Edwin Jr.'s first wife was [Minerva] Susan "Sadie" Cunningham (? - 1892) whom he married on April 23, 1887 in Kirksville, Adair County, Missouri. They had 3 known children:

Jeanette Ann Parcells, born 1888
George William Parcells, born 1889
Sadie Parcells, born & died 1892

First wife Sadie died at the birth of their third child, also named Sadie Parcells, who also died the day she was born 19 May 1892.

On May 7, 1893 in Kirksville, Adair County, Missouri, Edwin married his second wife, Mary "Emma" Airey Ada Bennett (1871-1941), daughter of Fielding Dick Bennett and Pembrook (Campbell) (Smith) Bennett. Edwin and Emma had 3 known children:

Inez May Parcels, born 1894
Ethyl Rebecca Parcels, born 1896
Earl Fielding Parcels, born 1901

In the 1900 census, Edwin and Emma were farmers, living in Pettis Twp. of Adair County, Missouri near Emma's parents, Fielding and Pembrook Bennett. By 1910, the family had moved to Hannibal, Marion County, Missouri, where Edwin and three of his children, George, Inez, and Ethel, were working in the shoe factory there.

Between 1910 and 1915, Edwin and Emma divorced. By the 1915 census, Edwin was living with his son George in Fort Madison, Iowa, and working in a shoe factory there. It is believed that Emma went to live in Springfield, Illinois, near her brother Robinson Bennett.

In 1917, Edwin's 16-year-old son by 2nd wife Emma, Earle Fielding Parcels, was struck and killed by a train while he was handing a message to the engineer. It is believed that this happened in Springfield, Illinois, as he is buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illnois.

In 1920, Emma was living with her and Edwin's daughter Ethel who was married to August Kornfield. Emma died in 1941 and was buried beside her son Earle.

In 1930, at the age of 70, Edwin was living with his son George in St. Louis, Missouri. Edwin died there in 1942 at the age of 82 and was buried in an unmarked grave in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis County, Missouri. His Missouri Death Certificate 29070 lists cause of death, chronic hypertrophic myocarditis and cirrhosis of the liver. It lists his usual occupation as railroad foreman, so he must have been employed in this profession after his work in the shoe factories.
