Final rites were held for Melvin Walker of Jacksonville, FL. who died in a Jacksonville Hospital at the age of 61.
The funeral service was conducted at New Prospect Baptist Church in Irwin County. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald.
A native of Fitzgerald, the deceased was a bookkeeper with Allied Van Company and had lived in Jacksonville for the past 15 years.
Survivors include three brothers: Marcus M.; Earnest and Robert, all of Fitzgerald; four sisters: Mrs. Chester Fosters; Mrs. Agnes Davis; Mrs. Elsie Taylor all of Fitzgerald; and Mrs. Jack Hogan of Irwinville. A number of nephews and nieces also survive.
Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
