Leona L. Anderson, 70, Weiser, passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the Christian Church, Weiser. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weiser. Arrangements are under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home, Weiser.
Leona was born April 5, 1933, in Council, Idaho, the daughter of Louis A. and Aleta M. Ball Thompson. She attended school at Council and Weiser.
Leona married Fred Roy Anderson Sept, 23, 1953, at Weiser, Idaho.
She has spent the last 27 years in Weiser.
One of her first jobs was working at the Metropole on State Street and she retired from working for the Weiser Rehabilitation and Care Center.
She enjoyed taking care of the elderly, working crossword puzzles, and loved to play cards (pinochle) and taking long drives in the country. Leona especially enjoyed being with her kids and grandkids. She volunteered for charity organizations throughout her lifetime.
Survivors include her seven children, Judy Torres, James, Rodger, Stanley, Todd, and Jon Anderson, and Terri Rivera; mother, Aleta Thompson, her ex-husband Fred Anderson, and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, brothers, Ivan Thompson, Delmer Thompson, Gerald Thompson, Donald Thompson, sisters, Delilah Delp and Nina Mae Delp.
She was preceded in death by her father May 18, 1995, and a sister Janice Hienrich, Sept. 18, 1991 and a son Allen in 1951.
