Miriam Flake Coggin, age 95, of 24724 US Hwy 52 South, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the Lutheran Home in Albemarle, NC.

Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and her funeral will be at 11AM on Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel. Rev. Harold McDonald will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory.

Born September 2, 1914 in Orangeburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Henry Curtis and Marie Flogle Flake and was a graduate of Badin High School in Badin, NC.

she was an employee of Wiscassett Mill Company and also of Concord Telephone Companuy. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Albemarle, NC.

Miriam Flake Coggin was preceded in death by her husband, Byron A. Coggin.

She is survived by her daughter, Marie Coggin Gaskin and husband Jeff of Weddington, NC; three grandchildren: Brian Gaskin, Melanie Gaskin Kirk and husband Alan, and Allison Gaskin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to JBS Deaf Services, 604 27th Street, South Birmingham, Alabama 35253. (Very special agency that works with Miriam's deaf-blind Grandson, Brian.)
