Lillie graduated from Gober High School and married Tom Blakey August 9, 1954. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in Hawaii with their children and grandchildren. Lillie and Tom lived for many yeare in the Dallas area where she raised her sons and supported her husband in his career with Texas Power and Light. Lillie volunteered in many capacities, including counseling with alcoholic women, delivering pies and taking nursing home residents shopping, and as a volunteer at Richardson Medical Center. She attented Waterview Church of Christ and taught Bible classes for children for more than 20 years. Lillie and Tom retired to their ranch near Iredell, Texas where she attended Iredell Church of Christ. She delivered Meals on Wheels, even while she was fighting her own illness, and was a member of the Hico Red Hat Club.

BLAKEY, LILLIE BELL, Lillie Blakey went home to Heaven on June 3, 2007, after a long and courageous battle with lymphoma.

She was an Inspiration to all who knew her with her strong faith, warm spirit thoughtfulness, and sense of humor.

Lillie was born in Oakland, Texas March 22, 1935 to Claude and Ester Cooksey. She graduated from Gober High School and married Thomas Blakey August 9, 1954. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in Hawaii with their children and grandchildren, at Lillie's request, and we are so thankful for that happy memory.

Lillie and Tom lived for many years in the Dallas area, where she raised her sons and supported her husband in his career with Texas Power and Light. Lillie volunteered in many capacities, including counseling with alcoholic women, delivering pies and taking nursing home residents shopping, and as a volunteer at Richardson Medical Center.

She attended Waterview Church of Christ and taught Bible classes for children for more than 20 years. Lillie and Tom retired to their ranch near Iredell, Texas where she attended Iredell Church of Christ. She delivered Meals on Wheels, even while she was fighting her own illness, and was a member of the Hico Red Hat Club.

Lillie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Thomas, and two sons, Eric and wife Kathy, grandsons Tyler and Ryan of Dripping Springs, Texas, and Trent and wife Tiffany, granddaughters Lillian and Jordan, of Keller, Texas. She is also survived by her brothers, Edward Cooksey and wife Sally, Ray Dee Cooksey and wife Wanda, and Dean Cooksey and wife Linda, and her sisters, Fae Roberts and Lorene Hawk and husband, John.

Lillie leaves behind many nieces and nephews and other extended family who loved her dearly. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sister Callie Graham and brothers Franklin and Roy Cooksey. Serving as pallbearers are BJ Melton, Frank Davis, Robert West, Bob Campbell, John Hendrix and Clark Choate. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Roberts and Nolan Graham.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 7, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Waterview Church of Christ, 1409 N. Waterview, Richardson, Texas. Funeral services will also be at Waterview Church of Christ on Friday, June 8 at 1 p.m. conducted by Mr. Robert Oglesby. Burial will be Friday afternoon at 4:30 pm at Sunnyside Cemetery near Savoy.
