Services for Betty Kirby, 50, Flint, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Directors chapel, Tyler, with the Revs. Sherman Mayfield and Sam DeVille officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Kirby died April 12 in a Tyler hospital.
She was born July 21, 1946 in Lampasas and was a resident of Tyler for 30 years, previously living in San Marcos. She was a graduate of Southwest Texas State University. She was a legal assistant for Rex Kirby, Attorney at Law and a noted speaker for the field of legal research throughout the state of Texas.
She was a teacher at Tyler Junior College in the legal assistant program. She served as president for Texas Association of Legal Secretaries in 1978-79 and was named by the president of the State Bar of Texas as a charter director for the Legal Assistants Division of the State Bar in 1981. She was named Legal Secretary of the Year by the Tyler Legal Secretaries Association of which she had served as president. She was the charter president-elect of the Tyler Area Association of Legal Assistants.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Rex Kirby, Tyler; mother Lou Creekmore, San Marcos, sons, Randy Kirby, Waldorf, MD. John Fatheree, Austin and Darren Kirby, Tyler; brother, Nolan B. Creekmore, Austin, and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers include Paul Clarkston, Kent Birdsong, Robert Hindman, Kenneth Helms, Gene Caldwell and Joe Thigpen.
Family will receive triends 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
