Died--On Friday, May 18, 1900, Mrs. Kate Deppen, at the home of her parents, of consumption, aged 21 years, 4 months, and 15 days.
Miss Kate Thomas was born in Atchison January 3, 1879, and came with her parents to Kirwin in August 1885. She was married to Canby Deppen on November 15, 1896, and was a mother of two children, one living, a little girl. The departed, besided her child, leaves a husband, a father, and mother, four sisters and three brothers to mourn their loss. The funeral was held at the residence Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. Snyder, and the remains were followed by relatives and friends to their last resting place in the Kirwin Cemetery.
