J.S. Dickerson Services Held

Funeral services for Mr. John S. Dickerson, 90, were held Saturday, January 22, 1972, at the Pickens Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Carl Grubbs, pastor, conducting the services, assisted by Dr. J. P. Brock, pastor of Pickens Baptist Church. Interment was in Seneasha Cemetery near Goodman with Worthy Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dickerson was born in Attala county near Sallis, October 9, 1881. He was the son of the late Charles and Georgia Ann Smith Dickerson. He moved with his parents to the Rock Hill Community in Madison County at an early age. He made his home in this area until his retirement a few years ago when he and his wife, the former Laetta Hearst moved to Pickens. She preceded him in death in 1965. He was a Methodist.

Among his survivors are three sons, Everd D. Dickerson and Charles Dickerson, both of Pickens, and Quintan of Birmingham, Alabama; four grandsons, three great-granddaughters, one great grandson, several nieces and nephews, and many relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Harry Worthey, John Presley, Edward Humphries, Hal Hearst, Hilton Holley and James Cook.
