Fulton, April 16- Mrs. Burt Allen has received word of the death of her sister, Mrs. Lottie Hodge Helm, 23, wife of Chief of Police Lemuel Helm, of Canastota. Death came Thursday following an illness of five months in Canastota Memorial hospital.
Born in the town of Lenox, in 1852, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Hodge, Mrs. Helm passed the early part of her life in this section. She received her education in the rural school of Lenox.
Twenty-six years ago she married Chief Helm, who came from Halifax, Nova Scotia to make Canastota his home. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Helm resided for 38 years at Nova Scotia. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Canastota.
Surviving besides Chief Helm are two sisters, Mrs. William Dawson of Niagara Falls and Mrs. Burt Allen of Fulton; two brothers, Emory and William Hodge of Oneida, and two nieces, Mrs. Mary Calindine of Niagara Falls, and mrs. William Ryan, of Chicago, Ill.
Funeral services were conducted at the home, 215 South Canal street Saturday at 3 o'clcok, the Rev. Jewell J. Effington officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
