Walla Walla Union Bulletin, 3 December 1965, p.5, Mrs. Harold Barnett, Active Leader in Many Fields, Dies
Pendleton (Special)-Mrs. Harold (Lola Rogers) Barnett, 69, civic leader and active worker in humanitarian fields, died Thursday at her home, 103 N.E. Ellis, after a long illness. Her husband is president of the Rogers Walla Walla Canning Co. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Rogers of Adams and Pendleton.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Folsoms's chapel in Pendleton with burial in the Olney Mausoleum. Officiating will be Dr. Earle P. Cochran and Dr. Myron Nichols, Presbyterian ministers.

Mrs. Barnett was born in Adams and moved to Pendleton with her parents in 1912. She attended public schools and St. Paul's School for Girls in Walla Walla. Her public service began in her youth during World War I when she organized the Girls Honor Guard, a uniformed patriotic organization in Pendleton.

During World War II she was area head of the Veterans Administrative Advisory Council which is still functioning. She won a national citation for her service. She served many years on the Umatilla County Red Cross chapter and on the board of St. Anthony Hospital, her tenure including the fund campaign and building of the new hospital.

In community affairs one of her vital interests was the Pendleton Round-Up not until her illness prevented did she miss a performance. The Rogers' daughter, Mrs. Quentin (Joan) Rugg, Athena, served as queen of the Round-Up in 1949. Mrs Barnett served as a member of the Women's Board of the Pendleton Country Club and was in charge of landscaping the grounds. President and longtime member of the Killkare Dancing Club, member of the Delphian Club, and the Pendleton Women's Club.

As a lifelong Presbyterian, she served as head of the women's organization of the church in Pendleton.
Mr. and Mrs. Barnett were married Jan. 22, 1918, in the Presbyterian Church.

Other survivors in addition to her husband and daughter are a sister, Miss Gwendolyn Rogers, Pendleton, and two grandchildren Julie and Shari Rugg, Athena.
