Visiting was held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at the funeral home, 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by Dr. John Goodwin. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Survived by wife, Mary Louise Gallent Long; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Joel Branch; a son, Fred M. Long Jr.; two granddaughters, Mary Susan Branch and Aimee Long; and two grandsons, Todd Branch and Christopher Long.
Preceded in death by parents, W. E. and Katherine V. Long; a sister, Gladys Marie Phillips; and a brother Carl E. Long.
Pallbearers will be Todd Branch, Christopher Long, Robert Hackett, David Gallent, Joel Branch and Robert Cecil Lorio.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, received a bachelor's of science degree from Louisiana Tech, a master's of science degree from LSU and was a member of numerous professional associations.
