Zula "Erma" Payne Fowler
Zula "Erma" Payne Fowler, 87, died early Sunday morning, Jan. 26, 2003, in her Stillwater home.
Services, with Dr. William S. Inglish Officiating, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m.
in Strode Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.

Fowler was born on a farm near Cottonwood School on Feb. 18, 1915, to H.L. "Lafe" and Edith (Ham) Payne. She married Cleo J. Fowler in 1936 in Stillwater. He died in July 1973.

Fowler attended school at Pleasant View and lived in the Cottonwood community most of her adult live before moving to Stillwater.

She was fondly known to everyone as "Granny" and spent her life as a loving and devoted homemaker.

She was a member of First Christian Church and was actively involved in Cherokee Home Demonstration Club. She loved to sew and crochet and continually blessed others with her handmade gifts.

She was an avid sports fan and loved cheering for her Oklahoma State University Cowboys.

Nothing made her smile more than spending time with her large family, however.

Her constant love and support is an example for all of us to mirror.

She was predeceased by her husband; two children, Barbara Fowler Owens and Tommy C. Fowler; and her sister, Doris Payne Fowler.

Survivors include two sons, Cleo Fowler and Leo Fowler and their wives, all of Stillwater; one daughter, Marjorie Fowler Waters of Oklahoma City; one uncle, Lester Ham of Stillwater; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and
numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses of Judith Karman Hospice for their
continued support and love they showed our Granny.

Memorials may be made to Judith Karman Hospice, P.O. Box 818, Stillwater,
Okla., 74076.

Condolences may be e-mailed to the family at [email protected]
