Died, at his home in this city, Thursday, August 16, 1894, Mr. Charles E. Stiles.

The deceased was born in Cohoes, Albany county, N.Y., August 24, 1856, and at his death was 37 years, 11 months and 22 days old. When a child two years old, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Stiles removed from New York to Winnebago, Ill., where Charlie grew to manhood. In February 1877, he came to Fillmore county, Nebraska, and settled on a farm about three and one-half miles south of town. In 1878 he went to California and spent a year with an elder brother, when he returned to Winnebago, Ill., and was married December 3, 1879, to Miss Lillian Rundel. From this time his home was in Fairmont until June, 1891 when he moved to Fresno county, Cal. After two and one-half years he returned to Fairmont, bringing the sad but certain evidence that he had returned to die. From that time he was a constant, but patient sufferer until last Thursday when God called him Home.

He was converted when 18 years of age and united with the M.E. church, remaining a faithful member till the day of his death. Mr. Stiles was a true son and brother; and a loving husband, a faithful friend and underneath all these as a foundation upon which they rested was his devoted Christian life. He died confident of an abundant entrance into the joy of the Lord.

The funeral was held from the M.E. church Friday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A.A. Randall. The remains were interred in the Fairmont cemetery and were followed to their last resting place by members of the A.O.U.W and a large company of sympathizing friends.
