BOYER - Everett Ano (Shorty) Boyer, 72, passed away suddenly at his home in Russell Thursday, Oct. 30, 1969, at 5:10 p.m. Although he had been in failing health for some time his death was unexpected.
Born Jan. 13, 1897, at Farmington, Iowa, he was the son of Noah and Alice Mary (Crown) Boyer. He had lived in and around Farmington the greater part of his life.
He enlisted in the Army March 31, 1917 and saw action overseas. He was discharged June 24, 1920. In later years he was a blacksmith and a truck driver, until his health forced his retirement in 1954.
He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 12, Keokuk. He was awarded the ATA Safe Driving Award for a perfect safety record while driving commercial motor vehicles for a period of seven years in 1951.
On Oct. 17, 1925 he was married to Lillie Pearl Parker at Des Moines. She preceded him in death in 1961.
Left to mourn his passing are four daughters, Evelyn A. Kethcham, of the home, Mrs. Joe (Darlene) Hendry, of Bettendorf, Mrs. Larry (Dolly) Lemay, of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Mrs. Emma Rennard, of Portland, Ore., sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, from the Miley-Brueggemann Funeral Home with Pastor Don Harding officiating. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery.
