On Dec. 25, 1860, he united in marriage with Miss Presilla Smith, at Ten Mile, Washington Co., Pa. Here they purchased a farm, their seven children were born to them, and for sixteen years they made their home. William Songster was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, March 28, 1835. He died at his home in Geneva, Neb., at 11:30 p.m. January 16, 1911, aged 75 years, 9 months and 18 days.

At the age of twenty, Mr. Songster moved to Washington Counts, Pennsylvania, working there for five years as a farm hand. December 25, 1860, he was married to Miss Priscilla Smith in Washington County. During their residence in Washington County their seven children were born, all surviving: Mrs. Jennie Hunt, Dennis Songster, Calvin Songster, Mrs. Sophia Kreider, William Songster;, J. B. Songster and Mrs. Laura Griffee. All of the children now reside in or near Exeter, Neb., except Mrs. Sophia Kreider, whose home is at Horton, Kas.

In 1877 Mr. and Mrs. Songster and their children came to Fillmore County and bought a farm two and a half miles south of Exeter. There they resided until Mrs. Songster's death July 16, 1902. December 23, 1904, Mr. Songster was married to Mrs. Carrie Crawford of Geneva, who survives him. their home has been in Geneva. Mr. Songster was taken ill last Thursday.

Mr. Songster united with the Baptist Church in 1859, transferring his membership to the Baptist Church at Exeter upon his removal to Nebraska. he continued in the faith until his death. He is survived by twenty-nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A brief service was held at the home in Geneva at 9:30 yesterday morning by Rev. C. L. Myers of the Geneva Methodist Church, the body being taken to Exeter on the 11:12 northwestern train. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. yesterday at the Baptist Church in Exeter by the pastor of that church. The interment was in the Exeter Cemetery.
