Joseph was the seventh child of Redmond Roger and Josephine Elizabeth Buttram Williams. He was the 18th of 21 children of Redmond Roger Williams. He was first married to Anna May Cox and they had three children, Patricia Viola Williams, Anna Gayle Williams and Joseph Williams, Jr. Joseph married a second time to Edith Ann Waid, no known children to this union.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK – Joe Williams Sr., 82, formerly of Chickalah, died Dec. 2.
He was a veteran of World War I, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Red Williams and was a Presbyterian.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edith Waid Williams; a son, Joe Williams Jr., North Little Rock; two daughters, Mrs. Viola Taylor, Little Rock, and Mrs. Gayle Gillen, Shirley; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mandy Wyant, North Little Rock; two sisters, Mrs. Ina Carr, Ranger, and Mrs. Bea Womack, Dexter, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle. Burial was at Chickalah Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service.
