Mr. Kerfoot B. "Smiley" Adams passed from this life Wednesday, February 4, 2009, in Webster.

Born December 10, 1931 in Amelia County, VA, Mr. Adams had been a resident of Santa Fe for 35 years. He had been self-employed as a carpenter/general contractor for over 35 years retiring in December of 2000, served in the US Army and was of the Baptist faith. Smiley was a volunteer of the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Department, an avid fisherman, enjoyed spending time playing cards and took much pride in his work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Fletcher and Merlie Morgan (Butler) Adams; brothers, Kenneth Ray Adams and Thomas Adams.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 45 years, Lois Adams of Santa Fe; sons, Kert Adams and wife, Charlene of La Marque, Johnny Adams and wife, Cheryl of Alvin; grandson, Christopher Adams of La Marque; brother, James Adams and wife, Nancy of Tomball.

Funeral services were conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor John Newton officiating. Interment followed at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Casketbearers were be Johnny Adams, Kert Adams, Patrick Coutorie, David Heathco, Larry Nivens and Al Skillman
