Obituary 1 of 2
This obituary ran in the November 11, 1932 edition of the Alexandria Daily Times Tribune.

Mrs. Jessie Mae Maynard, 45, wife of Chester Maynard and a very well known woman of the country south-east of Alexandria, died at the family home at 8:10 Thursday evening, after having been ill for the past 13 weeks with cancer. Her condition had been very grave for the past week, when hope for her recovery was abandoned. The arrangements for the funeral were being completed today.
Mrs. Maynard was born near here on June 14, 1887, and had lived all of her life in this community. Her second marriage, which was to Chester Maynard, took place at Anderson on January 12, 1926. He survives her together with a son, Barney Maynard, aged four years. Mrs. Maynard had also reared her cousin, Margaret Foland, whom she took when she was a babe of 18 months, and who now is 16 years of age. Several uncles, aunts, and more distant relatives of the deceased live in this community.
Mrs. Maynard was a member of the Joyce Chapel M.E. here, and of the Brotherhood and Sisterhood of the Christian Congregation church east of the city. She was also a member of the Hall Corner Helpers' Club, and was held in high regard by a very wide circle of friends and acquaintances.

Grandma Maynard now has 14 grandchildren.
