Marlene JoAnn Banner Smith, of Horton, Kansas, wife of Johnny Smith passed away on July 4, 2008 at the age of 76.

She was born on April 7, 1932 in Axtel, Kansas the daughter of Cedric D. and Margaret Scott Banner.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Marlene will forever be remembered for her kind and generous spirit and the love she bestowed on her family and friends. Marlene graduated from Horton High School in 1950.

On October 7, 1951, Marlene and Johnny Smith were married in the Christian Church in Horton. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her four children, Robin Smith Jackson of Lakeport, California, Rochelle Smith of San Francisco, California, Regan Smith of Santa Rosa, California and Eric Smith of Franklin, Indiana, nine grandchildren and two brothers, Bob Banner of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Bill Banner of Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Monday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be at the Horton Cemetery.
