J. Wallace Knight

Harrisville- John Wallace Knight, 72, of 775 N. Harrisville Road, died Monday afternoon at his home after an extended illness.

Mr. Knight was born on Dec. 6, 1900, in Bates, Idaho, a son of William Alma and Martha Hipwell Knight.

He was married to Myrtle Marie Bingham on Sept. 12, 1923, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Sept. 9, 1925. He was married to Lenora B. Chambers on July 3, 1928, in Ogden.

He lived in Taylor and came to Ogden and Harrisville in 1906.

He was a retired employee of the Southern Pacific Co. and was a member of the Southern Pacific Old Timers Club.

He was a member of the LDS Church and served a mission to the Western States in 1926. He was active in scouting and served as a priesthood group leader, bishop and bishop's counselor in the Harrisville Ward. He had also been a member of the North Weber Stake MIA Board.

He was a member of the commission to incorporate Harrisville City and had served as Harrisville Building inspector.

Surviving are his widow of Harrisville; five sons and one daughter, Burt Wallace Knight, Leslie Dan Knight, George Lynn Knight, Byron L. Knight, all of Harrisville; Robert Wayne Knight, Pleasant View; Mrs. Wayne (Donna) Gerrard, Ogden; 20 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Drake, Wilson Lane; Mrs. Neta Winn Farmington, N.M.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Larkin Chapel of the Dawn with Bishop Lawrence Saunders of the Harrisville Ward officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday prior to services. Burial in the Ogden City Cemetery.
