CADIZ, Ky. — Bennie Lee Garland, 89, Cadiz, died at 11:45 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2007, at Shady Lawn Nursing Center of natural causes.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Robertson-Hite Cemetery, Cadiz. Visitation will begin at 4:00 Tuesday at the funeral home.


A native of Central City, she was born June 6, 1918, the daughter of the late James Alexander and Nancy Buhler Henderson.


She was a homemaker and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Artell Garland, and three sons, James Artell, Larry Gene, and Samuel Thomas Garland.


Survivors include two sons, Billy Joe and Jerry Lewis Garland of Cadiz; three daughters, Peggy Mancuso, Panarama City, Calif., Gail Ravellette, Cadiz, Margaret Gray, Cadiz; a brother, J.W. Henderson, Belleville, Ill., 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one stepgrandchild.


Memorials may be made to the building fund at the New Hope Baptist Church, In Care Of Judy Terrell, 149 Oakland Church Road, Cadiz, Ky., 42211.

Her parents James Alexander Henderson born March 29, 1888 in Clinton, Hickman Kentucky died Oct. 1, 1960 in Los Angeles, Lose Angeles County, California, James Alexander and Nancy "Nannie" Buhler were married in 1907. Nancy Buhler was born April 13, 1889 in Clinton as well. She died July 27, 1965 in Hollywood, Los Angeles County, California. Her parents were Stephen Buhler and Laura Franklin. Bennie had 3 brothers Steve, Willie "Bill"-1921-1983, John-1924-2008, and 2 sisters Mary 1928, and Leota May Mills 1910-1967.
