Named after his father's brother, Jacob Jonathan Beil.

Jacob, along with brother William Henry and their father Abraham migrated from Tazewell County, Virginia to Decatur County, Indiana by 1829 when Jacob was 22 years old, Abraham and William appeared on the tax records, Jacob was not a landowner at this time.. His father Abraham and brother William left Decatur County for Clinton county and Jacob remained in Decatur as he had married and purchsed land.

In 1880 Jacob, Mary and youngest son Elisha are found living on Rockwood Street in Indianapolis, Indiana
Jacob is still making his living as a carpenter and young Elisha is a store Clerk.
Mary and Jacob lived the remainder of their lives in Indianapolis.


Jacob was one of the selected jury on the below trial
