Gerald Estes Hazelhurst was the son of Charles Hazelhurst and Lela Estes. He attended school in Gunnison and also Barnes Business College. On June 16, 1920, he married Eva Leonard in Chicago. He worked for the Quickway Truck Shovel Co. for more than 30 years and was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church for more than 60 years.
