Daniel was the son of Peter Staifer and Felicia Mroziewicz Staifer. His father died when he was six years old. He married Shirley Schaub on 15 Sep 1951 and they were married 52 years at his passing. He served in the Army, 38th Infantry, Co. B, during the Korean War. He was on the front lines for 39 days without relief at one point...Daniel was a Combat Wounded Purple Heart Awardee. He was very active in local Veterans organizations including the VFW, the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Lucas County Burial Corps...Daniel participated in 536 Veteran's funerals at the time he passed providing full military honors...he liked to say that he took 536 Veterans home.
