Jennie Cole was born to Amanda Cole and an unknown father in 1864. She was raised by her maternal grandparents Asa and Mary (Eastman) Cole. She married three times: (1) Sylvester Kint ,(2) Jonathan E Purdy and (3) William Phelps. She had six children: Pearl Kint (Kinsman), Daniel Edward Purdy, Blanche Purdy (Moore), Clifford Purdy, Hazel Phelps (Cole) and Gladys Phelps (Roberts). In 1904, she moved her family from Minnesota to Washington State. She spent the rest of her life there, as did five of her six children.

Mrs. William Phelps
Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Phelps, 86, who died Friday will be held Tuesday at 1 o'clock at the Home Undertaking Co. chapel, with burial in Evergreen. Mrs. Phelps, born in Minnesota, came to Seattle in 1908 to live with her daughter Mrs. Gladys Roberts. She was the widow of William Phelps. Surviving besides Mrs. Roberts are two other daughters Mrs. Hazel Cole, Seattle and Mrs. Pearl Kinsman, South Dakota, and a son Clifford Purdy, Seattle. [I do not think the date she moved to Seattle is correct here.]
