Benjamin Perry Richardson, born January 1, 1923, in Franklin County, Missouri, and was the son of Gideon and Margaret Hutchinson (Morrow) Richardson. In 1848, he and his family emigrated to Oregon by ox team from Johnson County, Missouri, arriving at the end of the Oregon Trail, Oregon City, Oregon, in October 1848. His wife, Julatha Ann Cox was also a member of the pioneers traveling to Oregon with her family. They married along the Platte River about June 10, 1848. They first settled in Monroe, Orgon, where they took up a donation land claim. They later moved to Lancaster, which was their home for 25 years. He and his wife were the parents of 12 children. On March 28, 1908, he died of smallpox and was buried in the Richardson Family Cemetery, Lancaster, Oregon, which is a grassy knoll where a few relatives are also buried, including his wife.
