Former Resident Passes Away on Ranch at Medina
Remains of J. H. Autry to be Interred Here Wednesday Afternoon
John H. Autry, for years a citizen of Gonzales, passed away at his ranch home in Medina county Monday, March 8, at 12 p.m., aged 56 years, 8 months and 9 days.
The news of Mr. Autry's death which reached here short after he passed away, will be received with sincere regret by many old friends here, although it was not altogether unexpected, as he had been in failing health since Christmas, being ill with kidney trouble. He had been under treatment here for six weeks, returning to his home only about two weeks ago.
Surviving him are his wife, three sons, Bryan Autry of this city, Jesse Autry of San Antonio, and Buster Autry of Medina; three daughters Mrs. Whiteland of Port Arthur, Miss Jewel Autry and a married daughter , formerly Miss PeRl Autry, the latter two of Medina,; two sisters, Mrs. F. L. Martin of this city and Mrs. J. F. Garner of Hallettsville.
Mr. Autry conducted a meat market here for about fifteen years, removing from Gonzales probably 12 years ago.Bryan Autry, his son, is now proprietor of the same market once conducted by his father.
The remains will be brought to Gonzales for interment, arriving here Tuesday night about 8 o'clock, in the hearse of Robertson's & Seydler, which was sent up, relatives accompanying them here. They will be taken to the F. L. Martin residence and the funeral will be held from there Wednesday after at 8 o'clock, with services at the residence at that hour conducted by Dr. W. K. Penrod after which interment will be made in the City cemetery.
Many friends of the family will tender warm sympathy in their bereavement.
