The grandparents of the deceased were Robert Allison and Sarah Turner, both of English descent, who after their marriage removed from Pennsylvania to SC. Dr. Robert Turner Allison, the father of R.E. Allison, was a child of this marriage. Dr. Allison was a graduate of SC College the class of 1821. Four years latter he graduated in medicine at Lexington, Ky. He was elected to the Legislature in 1833, and in 1860, he was one of the members of the Secession Convention from York County.
His wife was Martha Clinton Allison. She was a saintly woman and of great assistance to her husband in raising a family of seven children, all of whom were devoted Christians.
