The Rev. C.E. Shaffer, 40, pastor of Temple Baptist Church and a resident of Highway 68, died at 6:12 a.m. today at Western Baptist Hospital after suffering a heart attack several hours earlier.

A native of McCracken County, and a Korean War veteran, he was a graduate of Lone Oak High School and Midwest Bible College.

He had been pastor of Temple Baptist the past three years.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Ellen Shaffer; a daughter, Miss Rebecca Lynn Shaffer, of the home; his parents, the Rev and Mrs. Ray Shaffer of Paducah, and two sisters, Mrs. Wanda Sue Kinsey of Lone Oak and Mrs. Lina Bechtold of McCracken County.

Funeral services are scheduled Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lindsey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Brown and the Rev. Carl Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with nephews serving as pallbearers.

Deacons of Temple Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
