Ruth L. Lundberg, 90, of Newton died on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at Newton Health Care Center. A graveside service at Newton Union Cemetery and a celebration of Ruth's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Progress Industries or Special Olympics.

Ruth, the daughter of Leonard and Vera (Alfree) Lundberg, was born on March 18, 1929. She moved to Newton as a young girl, where she lived the rest of her life. Ruth was a member of the Newton Health Care, Progress Industries, and Jasper County Care Facility families. She participated as a Special Olympics athlete. Ruth enjoyed going to the zoo and taking care of her baby dolls and stuffed animals. She loved her family and Santa Claus. Everyone who knew her loved hearing her excitement as she would exclaim "Ho Ho Ho".

Ruth is survived by her sister-in-law, Zelda Lundberg of Newton; nieces and nephews, Al Lundberg of Newton, Paul Lundberg of Newton, Nora (Craig) DeRonde of Otley, Pam (Mike) DeBruyn of Newton, Minnie Lundberg of Phoenix, and Leonard Lundberg of Newton; many great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Eldon "PeeWee" Lundberg, Carl (Jeanne) Lundberg, and Paul Dean Lundberg in infancy; and a nephew, Bob Lundberg.

A special thank you to Deb Ferrone and Becky Lee-Denniston for getting Ruth involved with Progress Industries which enriched her life greatly and to Hospice of the Midwest for their care and support.
