He graduated from Hibbing Junior College. A veteran of World War II, he served in the US Navy and was on board in the Pacific. He was married to Darlene Heikkila in 1948 in Hibbing. He worked for Reserve Mining Co. as a heavy equipment operator and later worked as a deputy sheriff for St. Louis County for 22 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 8510, The Loyal Order of the Moose, the Arrowead Peace Officers Association, the Hibbing Rifle club, the NRA and bowling leagues. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Darlene; son, Randy (Renne) Adams; daughters: Sheila (Dean) Doering and Gail (Michael) Greuling; brother, Merle (Lena) Adams; sister, Loueen Hartman; grandchildren: Shawntel, Amber, Justin, Sara and Nicole; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law, Dan Hartman.
