The death of John W. Prater occurred suddenly at the home of his sister, Mrs. Charles Urton, in West Liberty, Thursday at 1p.m. as the result of a heart attack super-induced by the excessive heat.
Mr. Prater and members of his family were engaged in moving their household goods from a farm located two miles east of West Liberty to a residence in that village, when Mr. Prater became ill. Following treatment at the office of Dr. John L. Maurer, he was removed to the home of his sister where death followed within a short time.
Mr. Prater was a native of West Liberty and has spent practically his entire life in and near that place.
He was twice married. In addition to his second wife, Mrs. Bessie Prater, he leaves two children by his previous marriage, Kenneth Prater, of Pike County and Mrs. Harry Barger, of Bellefontaine, and the following six children by his second marriage: Harry, Leo, Undean, Edith, Doris & Charles. He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Urton and two brothers, Frank Prater, of West Liberty, and Solomon Prater, of Marion.
Funeral services will be held at the Prater home, Saturday at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. A. E. Grant f Harpster, in charge. Burial will be made in the Hanger Cemetery, near West Liberty.
