Gladys was orphaned early in life. Her mother died when she was a year old and her father when she was six. Raised by some wonderful people, Abraham and Jamie Burden, Gladys married Allen Gonser in 1922. He died in 1925 leaving her with two baby daughters, my Aunt Margie and my mother, Mardieze. Later, in 1927 she married Gifford Cone and had one more daughter, Marion.
She was a good grandmother and made the very best homemade apple pies I ever tasted.
