Samuel J. Chambers, 87, of Bloomington, died Saturday evening, January 14, 2006, at Beverly Health Care. He was born August 17, 1918, in Monroe County, the son of Elmer and Lena (McGlothlin) Chambers. He was a retired employee of Indiana University, where he worked as the military property custodian for the ROTC program. He was a longtime member of Sanders Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Annamae (Tate) Chambers, of Bloomington; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Rudy Langley of Bloomington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Gwin Chambers and Randy and Vicky Chambers, all of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Greg Southern, Timothy Southern, David Chambers and Lauriel Chambers; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Isabell Crum of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond Chambers and Oscar Lee Chambers; four sisters, Lucille Chambers, Genevieve Chambers, Georgia Heckman and Goldie O'Neal; and one son-in-law, Jim Southern.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Temple, with Rev. Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Mount Ebal Cemetery. Friends may call at Allen Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour preceding the services at the church on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sanders Pentecostal Church Building Fund in care of Allen Funeral Home.
