Husband of Ann Jane Rowlands Elder

OBITUARY:
George Clinton Elder, son of Oliver and Sarah Elder, and husband of Anna Jane (Rowlands) Elder, was born near Spring Run, Franklin County on the 17th day of December 1869.

He moved to Illinois in September 1880 where he has since made his home. On the 15th day of February 1893, he joined heart and hand in Holy Wedlock with his now bereaved widow, Anna Jane Rowlands.

Mr. Elder united with the Presbyterian Church of Lexington on the 29th day of May 1892 and has lived a good, considerate and useful Christian Life. He has served his church in many ways, being Superintendent of the Sunday School for several years. He was elected by his church to Eldership on the 14th day of April 1915, in which capacity he faithfully served until his death.

Mr. Elder fell victim to the flu epidemic.
He departed this life at his home four miles northeast of Lexington on the 19th day of October 1918, attaining an age of 48 years, 10 months and 2 days.

Those who are sorrowing over his demise are his wife and four children, Howell, Velda, Lawrence and Clarence, also his three brothers, G.K. Elder of Lexington, J.M. Elder of New Mexico and A.S. Elder of PA, together with a large circle of friends.

Mr. Elder has served his day and generation well and Christ and his church loyally and faithfully and has heard the welcome of his Lord wherein HE hath said: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. Matthew 25:21
