Arrived in the U.S. In 1848. Married Johanna Faulhaber b1827 d1870. Married Marguerite G Pflugfelder in 1872.

He served with Company K of the 15th Virginia Infantry. After he enlisted on May 16, 1861, Governor Letcher detailed him to do "government work". The company was disbanded in 1862.

He died of consumption in a Richmond TB hospital (Pine Camp)∼Aged 75 Years
