LAWRENCE COUNTY PLANTER BURIED
Funeral Services Are Held at Galilee for Walter E. Nix MONTTCEliLO, June 12. - Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Galilee Baptist church near Rockport for Walter Walter E. Nix, 56, widely known Lawrence county planter and highly esteemed citizen of the Oma community above this place. Mr. Nix died at the family home late Sunday afternoon after a lingering illness of many months. He had been critically ill for the past few weeks.
Born and reared at Rockport, member of a well known family, Mr. Nix moved to Oma sixteen years ago and was one of the best known citizens of Lawrence county. He was a consistent member of the Oma Baptist church. Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. S. L. Walker of Newhebron. Interment was made in the Galilee church cemetery. Mr. Nix was married married to Miss Rosa Hennlngton, who survives.
Two sons, Lowrey Nix, Oma, and Frank Nix, Greenville, survive with three daughters, Mrs. Marshall Tullos, Magee; Misses Margaret and Aileen Nix, Oma. Among other surviving relatives are a brother, June Nix, Weslaco, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. L. O. Eabin, Memphis. Tenn., Mrs. W. D. Fleming and Miss Viola Nix, Columbia; three grandsons grandsons and a number of nieces and nephews. Among surviving nieces are Mrs. H. J. Patterson and Miss Marguerite Alford of Monticello.
