He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Holly, parents, Arthur J. and Dixie M. Abell, Sr. of Arlington, VA, and brother Dennis. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sue, and two loving sons: Brian and wife Kathleen and sons Bradley and Tyler, Madera, CA, and John and wife Jenifer and children Justin, Ashlyn and Emma, Frazier Park, CA; brother Joseph T. Abell and daughter, Brookville, PA; cherished sisters: Betty M. Gayle and family, Colonial Beach, VA, Debra A. Shields and family, King George, VA and Bonnie Berkley and husband, Shepherdstown, WV; uncles Stanley Abell and wife of VA, Wendell Young of WV and Bill Lewis of MD and their extended families.
Butch was a career Administrative Officer of the National Park Service, U.S. Department of Interior. Assignments included Eastern Service Center, VA; Yellowstone NP, WY, Little Bighorn Battlefield NM, MT, Bighorn Canyon NRA, MT, Minute Man NHP, MA, Ozark NSR, MO, Valley Forge, NHP, PA, Yosemite NP, CA and Southwest Regional Office, Santa Fe, NM.
Butch was an avid outdoorsman. He loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends in the great outdoors and we are certain many hunting and fishing memories will live on in your hearts. He had a generous spirit and compassion which inspires us all and he will be missed.
