Elmer Coffman, son of A.L. and Martha Roush Coffman was born October 2, 1874 and died at his home in Mt. Pleasant July 4 at the age of 76 years, nine months, and two days. He was born and lived all his life in Chequest township with the exception of the last three years, which were spent in Mt. Pleasant. In December, 1899 he was united in marriage with Mary E. Pettit, who died July 16, 1945. To this union, one son was born, Earl, of Nauvoo, Ill. Mr. Coffman united with the Lebanon Methodist church in early manhood and was still a member at the time of his death. He was one of nine children of whom two are still living, Mrs. Grace Bailey of Lebanon and Omer A. of Agency. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Bertha Woods of Des Moines and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Lebanon Methodist church Saturday at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Robert Farr of Douds. Burial was in the Lebanon cemetery. (Obituary provided by Jack Keeling)
