Theo B. Lafont, 89, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Galliano, died Thursday, April 29, 2010.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Duet Lafont; three daughters, Nadine Pregeant and husband, Clyde Jr., Laverna Alford and husband, Gerhort, and Tanya Chiasson and husband, Eric; two brothers, Theard Lafont Jr. and wife, Delores, and Darwin Lafont and Geraldine; six grandchildren, Bryan Pregeant and wife, Marie, and Brad Pregeant and wife, Rockelle, Joshua Ledet, Lauren Gardner and husband, Paul, Erica Chiasson, and Gerhort M. Alford; and four great-grandchildren, Breanne, Brad Jr., Brock and Brook Pregeant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theard Sr. and Emelie Brunet Lafont; two grandsons, Justin and Johnathon Alford; four brothers, Euclid "Ken" Lafont, infant brothers, Duffy, George and Lawrence; and one sister, Elrita Smith.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He was retired from Exxon USA and a member of St. Pious the X Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
