He was the son of Dr. Joseph Silliman of New Canaan, Conn , and was born in that place Jan. 17, 1788.
After leaving College he studied law, $nd from the time of his entrance upon that profession until his death, he was a successful practitioner in the City of New York, chiefly in the courts of Chancery.
