*Levi's Mother was killed in 1869 while sitting under a tree knitting, waiting for her husband. As she was knitting, a fallen tree landed right on top of her, killing her instantly.

*Several years later, in 1872 Father Isaac was at work early in the morning when there was a boil room explosion, he was killed instantly. According to Levi, he was sent to Ohio to live with his Brisben grandparents. Levi returned to Montcalm as a 21 year old, found a job at John W S Pierson hardware store and stayed with them for over 40 years.
