Martha A. Barnett, 91, of Mt.Vernon died Monday, May 16, 2005 at the Rockcastle Health & Rehabilitation Center in Brodhead. She was born on September 29, 1913 in Rockcastle County the daughter of the late Spencer and Etta Ogg Abney. She was a retired teacher, enjoyed reading and quilting, and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors are: four sons, Calvin, Bill and Monroe Barnett, all of Mt.Vernon and Doug Barnett of Richmond; four daughters, Mrs. Doris Blevins and Mrs. Jenny Bray, both of Mt.Vernon, Mrs.Mary Lou Vandgrift of Vero Beach, FL and Mrs. Carol Bowman of Louisville. Nineteen grandchildren, and several great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Goldie Barnett; one son, Alvin Barnett and by two grandsons.

Services were held (today) Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eddie Nation officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Barnett, J.C. Barnett, Randy Barnett, Gary Barnett, Terry Barnett, Eddie Barnett, Larry Barnett, Lee Barnett, John Bray and Manoah Bowman.
