Funeral for Lura Mae Bassham,
89, of Louisiana was Saturday at at
Waymon Chapel A.M.E. Church
with the Rev. Percy Washington officiating
and Reynolds Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Sterrs Cemetery.

She died Wednesday in Lincoln
Memorial Hospital in Ruston, La.
She was born July 24, 1905, in Giles
County.

She was retired after 42 years of
teaching school in the Morgan
County and Decatur school systems.
She graduated from Alabama
A&M College and was a member of
the Decatur Teachers Association,
Alabama Education Association,
National Education Association and
the Retired Teachers' Association.
She also was a member of the
Morgan County Mental Health
Association and the Congenial Social
Club. She was a member of Waymon
Chapel A.M.E. Church.

She is survived by nieces and
nephews.

Pallbearers were nephews Stanley
McKimrey, Robert Henry II,
Leonarda Matthews, Maurice Harris,
William Dawson and Carl Bradle.
